Apple made in the USA?

Apple recently made a decision to finally make some of its products here back where it all began.  They primarily have their products made overseas like most big computer companies.  They will still continue to make the IPads and IPhones in China with no big surprise.

It's wonderful news for die hard Apple lovers especially because it will give some job opportunity here. I myself am very happy that a company that started here is going to make some of its products where it all started. I endorse anything American made as it is hard to find now days with so much cheap labor overseas. I am hoping that with great success of some of the Apple computers being made here it will bring more opportunity for them to start making more of their products here state side. It's a great play on Apple's part and is sure to win over more Americans!

Job Talking inspiration

For my previous assignment I had to watch a TED talks video and write a blog post about it. I am fairly familiar with TED talks as I watched them via Netflix. I thought I would post my favorite video. As anyone that knows me I am a die hard Apple fangirl.  Steve Jobs is a hero of mine and I find that he is one of the most inspirational individuals I have ever come across. I encourage you to take 15 minutes out of your time and watch this inspirational video of him.
Enjoy.

TED Talks Before I Die..

I am reviewing a Ted Talk video that I watched called "Before I die".  I have watched several Ted talks videos mostly humorous ones or tech ones.  This short video really did touch me and they way she presented it with the pictures as she spoke made the presentation spectacular!  It was inspiring how she took her creative side and put a chalkboard on an ugly abandoned store in New Orleans that had the simple statement "Before I die.." and had fill in the blanks all over.  She showed pictures as the days went on and how fast they filled up and shared some of peoples wishes.  Without the visuals it would have been less relatable and harder to grasp.  Some humor was used when sharing some of the wishes that made the seriousness of the tone a little less serious.  It was about 6 minutes long and it was great, but I still craved for more.  I was captivated throughout the entire presentation that is probably why I wished it was a little longer.  I really enjoyed this presentation and will probably pass it along to my friends and family.

Social Media Update!

A little half way through my social media class and I wanted to give a quick update (not that anyone is reading) on my social media progress.  I am pushing more of the blogger, twitter, and linkedin for my individual project. I have twitter down pretty good right now so that one is pretty easy. I think blogger is very easy to use it's just making sure to remember to blog that gets to me. I would like to blog at least twice a week, but sometimes I find it hard to figure out what I should blog about. I do enjoy linkedin I think that one takes a little bit more work to make yourself stand out. I think having the linkedin account could potentially lead me to a new job I am hoping. I think once class is over I will probably stick with Linkedin and twitter.

Finding my way into something new!

My previous blog I wrote about my programing troubles and I am still in the same boat. I continue to struggle and I am still waiting for it to click but am running out of patience. I went to the MATC open house and talked to professors in the IT field and was delighted to have such great help. I spoke to a professor about the IT security field and knew instantly that I wanted to try it out and perhaps attain an associates degree. I felt so relieved that I had a great professor who gave me a great run down on what it was all about and he even showed me what classes to take off the bat. I felt so great about that and next semester I will be taking hopefully 6 or more credits. I can't wait to start learning I just need to make it this semester. Fingers crossed!

Where I am with social media

I really enjoy my social media class because I am a big social media fan. I have been active in the social media universe for a long time, but I think this class will make it even better for me. I have been on twitter for a couple of years and that was mainly to follow social trends. I find myself turning on my Ipad first thing in the morning and checking my twitter feed as if it was my newspaper. I think sometimes I get the news faster through my twitter feed. I have also benefited from twitter by meeting my favorite celebrities and scoring awesome concert tickets. I love technology and how it connects people from all over the world. It is always changing and making things better for everyone.

I find myself more social through social media rather then actually socially..I don't know if that is a good thing or not. ha! I know with this social media class it will hopefully help me land a better job and get more exposure to more social media networks. Right now I am trying to start a more professional twitter and starting linkedin which I have never used. It will be interesting to look back when I am done with my class and see how far I came along.

Learning C#

This semester I am taking Intro to object oriented in C# using Visual Studio. I came into class knowing nothing about programming or C# I am a complete n00B coming in.  I am about a month into my class and have still struggled over and over again. I have tried not to feel discouraged and have been keeping a positive attitude as much as possible, but it has been a rough short road. I have asked for help, I have been tutored a little bit, and talked to classmates. My teacher seemed to give up on me and suggested that maybe this wasn't for me. I was discouraged after I spoke especially when he pegged me as unorganized (I'm not) I felt hopeless. I have been studying and trying to figure things out on my own with trial and error. I finally wrote my second program with a little help from examples, but I learned a lot. I'm not going to give up that is for sure no matter what anyone tells me! I will try to blog more about my troublesome times in C#, but I hope it comes along easier!
